Stealing time... don't we all wish we could do that.
There's a lot going on here. and if we're to find this man we have to find some connections. Based on former cases There's grounds for the supernatural here.
Psychic puppets, employed spirits, shikigami, poltergeist conspirator, it could be any number of things. Either way this gang of gunmen lack physical bodies yet can hold weight, or at least employ force enough to hold a gun. Puppets tend to move in an anthropomorphized manner, having joints and limbs, so that's a point towards Psychic Puppetry. An employed gang of spirits is possible... Shikigami would be an option, but Onmyodo is a closed practice, and while we can't necessarily rule it out, our guy looks white as mayonnaise on a hotdog. In the case of a poltergeist it certainly could dominate an entire space with it's spiritual mass, but when you stretch a spirit that thin it tends to lose discrete form, I doubt it could hold one focused body, let alone six.
Our guy would need to be quite the powerhouse to conduct puppetry from all the way in the office, and with no way to keep watch on them I doubt it would be effective in a heist like this. And having a gang of spirits also seems plausible, clearly our guy knows his way around words if he stole an identity. Unless you consider...
Maybe the conspirators... Aren't even dead.
